PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: Planting Beds

Landscape Project,
Rye, NY

Glen Gate Company is an architectural design contracting and management company located in Wilton, CT. Director of Design, David Fiore, and Project Manager, Theo Congdon, teamed up to design and install a masterpiece panoramic landscape project in Rye, New York, using Agresoil Compost™.

The project started with excavation into the side of the hill where a new 7-foot high sea wall was added to meet the saltwater pond. The Glen Gate team stockpiled 30% to 40% of the “contractors mix topsoil” and the soil from excavating the sea wall and pool. After the hardscape and the bare bones of the design were completed, Theo prepped out each of the planting beds by digging to a depth of 20 inches. He then mixed the
Agresoil Compost™ 50:50 with the existing topsoil to prepare the beds for planting.

After careful selection and placement of one and two gallon perennial containers, Theo mulched with what the Glen Gate Company calls the “No. 2 mix,”
Agresoil Compost™, from Fairfield, CT. Six to seven weeks later, the results speak for themselves. An excited Theo stated, “[The plantings] all started with one and two gallon pots, not three or five gallon perennials and they produced that quickly in the Agresoil Compost™ mix.”

Plant material require biological activity in its root zone for healthy growth. By incorporating
Agresoil Compost™ into your soil medium, beneficial micro-organisms thrive and multiply producing results like this.

Agresoil Compost™ made in Fairfield, CT, was used to amend soils for ornamental planting beds at various locations around the grounds. Compost was used at about 20% by volume to increase soil organic matter and provide nutrients. Compost was also used to mulch planting beds.
